– EN Fashion – David Gandy’s latest design venture, a tailored collection, is something he’s always dreamed about.
The English model has been designing for British high street retailer Marks & Spencer since 2014, first launching an underwear line, before moving into loungewear.
But his latest effort is the most stylish to date, a formal collection made up of a Prince of Wales check three-piece suit, a dinner suit and a navy wool overcoat.
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” David told Fashion Beans. “There are so many people now with lines, brands and collaborations. I felt like I needed to start at the very beginning and understand more about design, production, manufacturing, sales. It’s a whole different ball game. But it’s been fun.”
Fans can snap up the suits for £299 ($390) and the coat for £249 ($325).
Admitting his style has hardly changed since he found fame as the face of Dolce & Gabbana fragrance Light Blue in 2007, the 38-year-old, who’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Stephanie Mendoros, is adamant keeping up to date with trends doesn’t bother him.
And he’s in good company when it comes to his preference for keeping things simple with a great suit.
“Tom Ford told me, ‘I have my one suit that I love, my shirt, my tie, and I’ve got 10 of them in the wardrobe,'” he recalled.
“They don’t change,” he added of Ralph Lauren’s reliance on his tuxedos and double denim and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s love of T-shirts teamed with cropped trousers. “And I’m kind of the same.”
