Abandoned Wolf Dog Rescued – Isn’t that adorable?
Animals are beautiful creatures, I think they are trust worthy and a great friend to us humans. Most of them aren’t fortunate enough to live in a beautiful home.
Some are left years in foster care or animal shelters, some don’t even have a home. Dogs love humans in general once they have received the slightest of care! Adoption stories are the best and the most inspiring for some of us, we bring you the best of them to inspire to adopt and not shop.
Here’s the story of an Abandoned Wolf Dog with MANY MANY ISSUES.
Found Loitering Around The Hood- Abandoned Wolf Dog
Being abandoned can get to most dogs, leaving them with trust issues and this poor pup happened to be on of those several dogs. In fact, when the rescuers found him they were surprised by how crazy he looked.
Thanks to his dear new friend who adopted him, he is coming back to normal and completely loves his new best friend.
Before we give away all adoption details, let’s rewind and look back at 2016 July animal control spotted this baby in an LA suburb. The team managed to find this dog in a park and while approaching him they realized he is ill and his paws were swollen.
Rescued Finally – Abandoned Wolf Dog
While neighbors around the hood had no idea about the origins of the dog, they hinted that he had a difficult time trusting people. According to the information received by the rescuers, the animal was wearing a crude collar around his neck, which was a clear indication that he had been a pet before.
Once the rescuers took him to the shelter they realized he needed medication and he looked like he was abandoned on the streets. They made sure to have the shelter staff look at him.
Not Too Well
To their surprise, the staff figured way many saddening details about the pooch on doing a general check-up. The baby wasn’t even a year old and was severely malnourished. He had parasites on his body, but they sure did know he wasn’t an ordinary guy.
Also, this little guy was a wolf-dog hybrid, mixed ancestry could have been the reason this poor pooch wasn’t adopted before. The shelter however was happy to have him and nurse him back to good health, until someone shows up to adopt him.
The organization had known to been working toward the conservation and protection of captive-born wolf and hybrid.
Here’s What Happened Next
W.O.L.F received an urgent request to get help from APEX PROTECTION PROJECT – one of the wolf rescue partners in California. Sent them a message – There were a young wolf dog in a shelter in Los Angeles country calif – who needed immediate rescue.
The poor pooch wasn’t even eligible for adoption in his own shelter, coming from a mixed breed background.
W.O.L.F didn’t take too long to reach the spot to rescue the pooch, however. They had boarded the plane and landed in Willington to take NEW BOY.
Their main goal was to get the groups to take a look at the hybrid dog so they could save his life. Unfortunately, his condition was so bad that they had to take him to W.O.L.F infirmary for recovery.
Abandoned Wolf Dog Getting Treated
Of course in the beginning – New Boy LOOKED like he was absolutely petrified of humans and usually he would stay quiet in a corner. Now he is a different version of himself, he has experienced kindness and patience that has helped him get out of his shell.
He dropped his defenses enough so that the vet and team could treat him with antibiotics, painkillers and medicinal baths to treat him.
Much to everyone’s surprise, New Boy recovered quickly, and to celebrate this recovery W.O.L.F. decided to hold a contest to give this dog a new moniker. They decided to name him Castiel, angel of rebirth from the hit TV SHOW supernatural.
Our pooch is finally showing signs of healing, he is eating well and shows signs of energy, takes naps when it is necessary – reports W.O.L.F
His paws are healing, and he is also gaining weight. He is also always ready for more food.
Bonding Over Food
Thankfully, this Wolf-dog’s uncompromising love for food gave a chance for the staff to bond with him and gain his trust. It wouldn’t be long for Castiel’s attitude towards the people who showed him undivided love and care would change for the better. In fact, he even grew comfortable enough to take food from the volunteers.
In 8 days, since he was rescued from the streets Castiel has completely changed and accepting humans more than ever. Care givers at the shelter say he’s stealing a lot of hearts and he is friendly with everyone available.
Bringing his health back to shape made him more confident and he started taking a genuine interest in other animals as well.
On 19 July 2016, Castiel finally stepped out of the infirmary and into the sanctuary at W.O.L.F. At that point, staffers came to the conclusion that this wolf-dog now needed was a close friend.
One of the care takers explained, that he was beginning to get lonely and wanted to find a companion for himself.
So Castiel was set up on blind date with Tenali and the two took sometime but became good friends. They would go on walks together, there were seen spending time together.
Now to be honest, they are kind of inseparable. That is the beautiful story of Castiel and his new best friend 🙂 who are living happily together now.
Their new home is the sanctuary and they have found it at the W.O.L.F sanctuary. The people working at the sanctuary have dedicated their lives and saved these animals.. in fact they work towards giving them a better life.
